March 31, 2008 On Friday, March 28, 2008, the building occupied by KEM Chemical Corporation located at 545 South Fulton Ave in Mt. Vernon, New York was destroyed by fire. We are very grateful that there was no loss of life and that there were no injuries. The Mount Vernon Fire Department successfully contained the fire and prevented the spread to neighboring structures. We are appreciative to Commissioner Horton of the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works, John O’Mara and David Traver of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Carlos Torres and Christopher Lalak of the Westchester County Department of Health, the Mount Vernon Fire Department, the Mount Vernon Police Department and to Mayor Clinton Young, who were on the site offering help and support. The site is now being cleared by a professional remediation firm. We anticipate the continued thorough and safe resolution of this matter. We would like to thank all of our customers, neighbors, business associates and friends who have contacted us with well wishes.
